About This Stop

Our European journey culminated with a visit to the iconic City of Light—Paris. In just two days, we managed to see many of the city's most famous landmarks while also finding time to relax before our long journey home. Paris provided a perfect bookend to our adventure, offering both world-famous monuments and quiet moments of reflection as we prepared to return to America.

Our iconic landmarks tour included admiring the magnificent Notre Dame Cathedral with its Gothic architecture and rich history, marveling at Sainte-Chapelle's breathtaking stained glass windows with their intricate designs and vibrant colors, viewing the exterior of the Louvre and its famous glass pyramid, standing beneath the monumental Arc de Triomphe, and relaxing in a park beneath the Eiffel Tower, soaking in the iconic view and atmosphere.

Cultural experiences featured visiting the opulent Palais Garnier, home of the Phantom of the Opera, with its grand facade and ornate details, Aubrey and the boys exploring the famous Montmartre stairs where John Wick ended his series, navigating Paris's efficient subway system like experienced European travelers, and finding the perfect balance between tourist must-sees and authentic local experiences.

Relaxation and downtime included enjoying a much-needed relaxing day at our Airbnb, taking a break from intensive sightseeing after weeks of travel, finding time to rest and recharge before our transatlantic journey home, and reflecting on our incredible European adventure as it came to a close.

Shopping and dining adventures featured a morning shopping excursion for last-minute purchases, discovering BioBurger for a delicious meal, stopping at the Nike Store during our landmark tour, and final opportunities to enjoy European cuisine before returning home.

Practical navigation included taking the subway to Paris Est, using Uber to reach our youth hostel after a long day of sightseeing, efficiently planning our route to maximize sightseeing in limited time, and applying all the travel skills we'd developed throughout our journey. Paris offered the perfect conclusion to our European adventure, allowing us to experience the city's greatest hits while also taking time to simply relax and process all we had seen and done during our travels. From the spiritual grandeur of Notre Dame to the engineering marvel of the Eiffel Tower, from the cinematic significance of the Montmartre stairs to the simple pleasure of resting in a Parisian park, our brief time in the French capital provided lasting memories and a fitting end to our journey. As we prepared for our return to America, we carried with us countless experiences, new perspectives, and the confidence that comes from successfully navigating multiple countries, languages, and transportation systems as a family!
