With so much history packed into one city, Rome demanded a full-day adventure, and we gave it everything we had in an ambitious attempt to experience the Eternal City's greatest treasures. After arriving by bus from the port, Grandpa immediately took charge and led our charge across this magnificent ancient metropolis. Armed with hop-on hop-off tickets to maximize our limited time, we hit the ground running—quite literally—covering nearly 15 miles of cobblestone streets, ancient sites, famous fountains, and countless architectural marvels before concluding with a perfect gelato discovery.
Our Roman expedition began at the famous Spanish Steps, where we found ourselves immediately immersed in the bustling energy of tourists and the weight of centuries of history that seemed to emanate from every weathered stone.
